Lance is a pastor, a nature lover, musician, storyteller, and writer. He grew up listening to tales of life in a Coal mining community Axel Ridge in SE Ohio told him by his grandfather. He worked oil fields and pipeline construction. In the 1990’s Lance moved to the Blueridge and became an environmental educator, naturalist, cultural interpreter where his passion for storytelling developed. Summers at camps all over WNC and off seasons at environmental ed centers. Stories became tools for teaching environmental concepts. His stories range from myths and legends from all over the world, Mountain tales and Culture (Jack and Grandfather tales), folk tales and fairy tales, with his own personal stories as well.
Lance has told around campfires, in classrooms, from the pulpit, at festivals and gatherings throughout WNC and Upstate SC. His signature storytelling uniform, bib overalls, is a tribute to the mountain tellers of Appalachia, who instilled the love and power of a good story in his heart. Lance is available for fundraisers, gatherings of all sizes, workshops, classrooms, receptions, community centers, corn shuckings, and bean stringing on the porch.
